Drue & James: a london love story
James and Drue’s wedding unfolded across London with an easy sense of intimacy and momentum. The day began in a beautiful room at The Standard, where Drue got ready surrounded by a small circle of friends. The mood was calm but electric. Drue looked so cool, completely herself. Her dress was like nothing I’d ever seen before. Unexpected, directional and entirely her.
James & Drue, with sunglasses on, slipped into a black cab and headed to Islington Town Hall together. Outside, their friends gathered in bursts of laughter and anticipation. They walked into their ceremony side by side, like a team. It felt like 2 best friends reaffirming a promise they’d already been making for years. Once the deal was sealed, they exited onto the steps and the guests threw handfuls of confetti into the air, which turned everything joyful and chaotic in the best possible way. We then wandered through the nearby streets taking a few photos, letting London shape the atmosphere around us. Conversations carried on as we moved. Taxis passed. The day felt open and unhurried. Another black cab took us to a pub, where we stopped for a pint. By the time we arrived at Bistrotheque, the celebration had settled into its evening rhythm. Small tables filled quickly and dinner was served. The lighting was low and flattering. It was hot and people hovered around the fans to cool down. Guests drifted onto the terrace to smoke, drink and talk before being pulled back inside by the music. Glasses clinked, voices rose, and the dance floor stayed busy well into the night. James & Drue fed each other their tasty cake. Their wedding was stylish, understated, instinctive and completely their own. It was a day built on presence, authenticity, personality and the simple joy of being surrounded by their people.
