Alex & Ben’s Authentic Wedding at Fforest
Photographing Alex and Ben’s authentic wedding at Fforest Farm was an absolute joy. From the moment I arrived, I was struck, again, by the sheer beauty of the place—200 acres of rolling greenery, woodland, and charm that feels like stepping into another world. It’s not just a venue; it’s an experience for guests and for me!
Their weekend kicked off on Friday with a wood-fired pizza supper at the Bwthyn pub. Guests mingled, glasses clinked, and laughter echoed around the fire pits. Saturday began with the most peaceful of mornings. While Alex and Ben prepared for their big day, guests strolled through the nature reserve or even braved a dip in the river. Their ceremony was as unique as the couple themselves: an intimate humanist ceremony under the giant tipi. It was decorated beautifully, with wildflowers adding pops of color against the rustic wooden beams. Capturing their emotions as they exchanged vows was a privilege. Then came the reception—what a feast! The lodge barn was set with long tables adorned with homemade gin, jam, candles, and freshly picked blooms. Roast chicken, yum! Sparklers and donuts after dinner turned into dancing together until late.
Fforest Farm is a photographer’s dream, but it was Alex and Ben’s love and connection that truly made every frame special. Photographing Alex and Ben’s wedding at Fforest Farm felt like I was exactly where I was meant to be. I thrive in settings that blend natural beauty with authentic, heartfelt celebrations, and Fforest is the perfect example of that. Its relaxed, weekend-long format suits my style of storytelling photography. I love capturing not just the main events but also the quiet in-between moments—the early morning river swims, the laughter around fire pits, the kids chasing each other through wildflower fields.
My approach is all about blending into the day, allowing me to photograph people as their truest selves. Whether it’s the tears during an intimate vow exchange or the unrestrained joy on the dance floor, I aim to document the feelings as much as the visuals. Fforest’s dreamy natural light and versatile spaces—from the tipi to the lodge barn—let me be creative and tailor each shot to reflect the couple’s unique vibe.
I’m also drawn to weddings that emphasize connection and community, and Fforest is all about that. I love seeing couples create experiences for their guests—like Alex and Ben’s lucky dip favourite book favours-so unique! My goal is to preserve those shared moments so that when they look back at their photos, they’re not just remembering their wedding day—they’re reliving it.
Weddings like Alex and Ben’s remind me why I do what I do. Being invited into such a personal, joyful chapter of someone’s life is an honor, and places like Fforest Farm allow me to document those memories in a way that’s natural, intimate, and unforgettable. Photographing Alex and Ben’s wedding at Fforest Farm was pure magic, even—or perhaps especially—because of the rain. The day began with a soft drizzle that settled over the nature reserve like a gentle embrace. Some might see rain on a wedding day as a challenge, but in a place like Fforest, it just adds to the charm. The woodland paths glistened, the wildflowers seemed to glow with fresh color, and the raindrops created a soothing rhythm that felt deeply grounding.
The weather brought everyone closer together, huddling under the tipi for the ceremony and gathering around fire pits later in the evening. There was something so cozy about watching guests wrapped in blankets, sipping hot drinks, and sharing laughter while the rain softly fell outside. The whole day felt intimate and romantic, like the weather was its own special guest adding a touch of mystery and warmth.
What I love about shooting in a nature reserve like Fforest is that every type of weather brings something unique to the experience. Bright sun, misty rain, or even a windswept afternoon—each moment becomes its own kind of beautiful. My style of photography thrives in these dynamic, natural settings. I love using the interplay of light and texture to create images that feel alive, and Fforest, with its unspoiled beauty and variety of spaces, gave me so much to work with.
Alex and Ben embraced it all. They laughed, danced, and celebrated as if the weather were perfectly planned. Capturing their joy against such a rich, organic backdrop was a dream—and a wonderful reminder that love, like nature, is beautiful in every season and every weather.
