Manchester PhotographyCourse
An inspirational 1 day Manchester photography course to get your creative juices flowing! For all those who’d like to get to know their artistic side a little better and engage in something mindful for themselves. Maybe you’d like to shoot in manual and be a little more in control or just find a reason to take more pictures! This course is suitable for complete beginners, keen amateurs wanting to brush up on their manual skills and even semi-pros who want to learn how to use light more creatively in their images – you really can take what you need from this inspirational day. This will be my 3rd year running this particular course and it has proved enormously successful, with many of my attendees going on to earn from their photography and others leaving inspired to make photography a more integral part of their lives.
My photography courses are based loosely around the images I take in my personal life as a mother, wife, traveller and story-teller. The aim with my personal photography is for it to result in images I want to put on the walls of my home or in family albums that I’m thoroughly proud of. Whatever you enjoy taking pictures of (and maybe you don’t know what that is yet!) this course will give you ideas, passion and technical guidance taught in a way that won’t scare you, so that you can begin to feel more confident about picking up your camera. Exposure of images correctly and creatively, using aperture, shutter speed, ISO and creative composition will definitely give your photos the edge.
The Beginner’s Photography Course is one full day usually on a weekend that requires you bring a DSLR (digital camera with full manual capability) old or new. We will begin with a session covering the basic knowledge needed to take better photos with your DSLR using the manual camera functions, aperture, shutter speed and ISO. Each attendee will shoot in full manual the whole day. We look at light, exposure, composition, creativity, how to choose your subjects/scenes wisely, where and when to take photos to get the best results and even when NOT to take photos! I also give you the knowledge you need to store, use and print your images to make sure you get the best results. The course is suitable for anyone starting from the very beginning, through to people wanting to brush up their manual skills and get inspired with light! You really can go at your own pace.
The Photography Course Itinerary
We’ll be based in Manchester City Centre (venue confirmed nearer the time) and we’ll start at 10am, running through until 6pm.
The workshop will start with a brief getting to know each other and your camera over a cuppa, followed by the manual technical session. We then practise our new knowledge of the manual settings with a little indoor shooting and then follow this with some further creative shooting outdoors in the city.
Lunch and a drink are included, then out again to practise some more portrait based techniques using light, creativity and some human models!
Finally back to the venue at around 4.30pm to chat about choosing your images, how to use and store them, any questions!
Following the day I’ll invite you into a Facebook group so you can add the photos you took from the workshop and get a little critique. You can use the group as a general Q & A platform so that I can help you along over time as you get to grips with what you’ve learned.
*You must bring your own DSLR camera with at least 1 lens
